Some months ago, at a friend’s invitation, I went to a Charly Bliss concert knowing not very much about the band, because generally I know not very much about music not made by Taylor Swift. I knew that they’d performed a cover set of the Josie and the Pussycats soundtrack and that a boy I liked back in New York was a fan of theirs. The concert was great! But just as great as Chary Bliss was their opening act, a fair-skinned cool girl called, mononymously, Raffaella. At the merch table after the show, I got her autograph and bought a shirt, and when I got home, I used one of the few perks of being a freelance pop culture writer and emailed her publicist asking if we could set up an interview.
Yes! I get to reach out to people and be like, “make this person talk to me.” And then I get paid for it! My life is very exciting and also fabulous.
Raff, as we/they/I call her, was as warm and funny in conversation (over Zoom) as she was on stage, and I would absolutely love for you to read the resulting article right here on Flood. Click. Here. Click this. Open this tab. Beep boop click.
And when you’re done with that…my favorite Raffaella song!
